Purpose: to raise the duckling healthy and to present the best timing of
releasing duckling in rice field.
a. Order and reception of duckling
- To transplant rice plant
in May, it is necessary to order duckling for hatch center in January.
- The timing of hatch
should be same date of rice transplanting, from that plan, sowing period and
egg incubate timing should be calculated well.
b. To 2nd day from hatch
- When duckling arrives in your house, you must
keep on the warm condition for them like they are under the mother bird.
- Give enough water to drink for duckling.
- Between first 2 days, to food some give
soaked brown-rice (small grain).
- From first day, it is necessary to adapt
swim.
- Under sunshine, duckling should swim well.
- Under cold condition, attention against cold
damage to duckling.
- For first 2 days, let duckling sleep under
warm condition, but after that duckling can sleep in ambient if duckling
doesn't feel the cold.
c. From 3 to 7 days
- If
air temperature is higher, you can start to release duckling in paddy field.

Before released duckling, to check rice condition. Rice should start rooting.
Otherwise, damage by duckling to rice will be serious.
By the way, the crow shot always at duckling in the
nursery period. It is better to cover the nursery area of duckling by net.
